Napoleon’s wife Josephine had one, along with Jackie Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Rainer Maria Rilke, Frederick August II (prince elector of Saxony), Empress Eugenie of France, Queen Victoria, William Hogarth, Winston Churchill and Madame Dubarry. The pug inspired Heinrich Heine, Wilhelm Busch, Christian Morgenstern, Andy Warhol and Loriot. As Agent Frank, the pug was a Hollywood star. In the movie "Men in Black II" it entered into battle against extraterrestrials, singing – wholly in the spirit of this book – Gloria Gaynor’s "I Will Survive" …
